Fear

Think about what occurred in your life today.  You woke up, took a shower, brushed your teeth, got dressed and went to work.  Then you came home, spent time with your family and went to bed.  These are all basic needs that most people take for granted and things that everyone deserves.  Unfortunately, not everyone has the pleasure of living their daily life in this manner.  Far too many people live their lives in fear of where they will sleep, eat their next meal or find clothing.  They have only the clothes on their back and no family to look to for guidance.  These people live in this community.  They come in all shapes and sizes.  She is the little girl that sits next to your child in art class or the man that stood next to you in line at the store today.

This is what we are faced with everyday at Bethlehem House.  The most rewarding part is being able to do something about it.  There is nothing more beautiful than seeing a mother cry tears of joy because she is able to provide a bed for her child or seeing a many become full that hasn't eaten in days.  Fear is an emotion that cannot be avoided, but being able to relieve someone's fear is something that will never be forgotten.
